► definition
Definition:
a tropical tree of the Americas with poisonous apple-like fruits that cause phytophotodermatitis. It is one of the most poisonous trees in the world (the Spanish name for the tree translates to "the little apple of death"), however the trees grow along coasts thereby providing excellent erosion control. They are listed as an endangered species in Florida.
