Definition:a misbegotten son in the old testament who fought against the Ammonites after being exiled by his half-brothers. He vowed to sacrifice to his god the first person he met on his safe return from battle, which turned out to be his only daugher - whom he duly sacrificed.This is basically the same story as Idomeneus sacrificing his son to Poseidon under similar circumstances... almost like it was plagiarized...
