Definition:
(7 June 1778 – 30 March 1840) was an iconic figure in Regency England, the arbiter of men's fashion, and a friend of the Prince Regent, the future King George IV. He established the mode of dress for men that rejected overly ornate fashions for one of understated, but perfectly fitted and tailored bespoke garments. This look was based on dark coats, full-length trousers rather than knee breeches and stockings, and above all immaculate shirt linen and an elaborately knotted cravat.

[He] is credited with introducing, and establishing as fashion, the modern men's suit, worn with a necktie. He claimed he took five hours a day to dress, and recommended that boots be polished with champagne. The style of dress was referred to as dandyism.

Uses:
Blackadder: Let's see. Now let's see, society pages. You see, it needn't necessarily be a princess. All the Prince wants is someone pretty and rich.
Baldrick: Oh dear, that rules me out then.
Blackadder: Now, let me see... "Beau Brummell in purple pants probe.", "King talks to tree. Phew what a loony!" God, the Times has really gone downhill recently hasn't it!

---
What man was he who would lay his hand familiarly upon his shoulder and call him Waldo? [...] it would have produced a sensation like Brummel's "George, ring the bell," to the Prince Regent.

Oliver Wendell Holmes. John Lothrop Motley, volume 3 (1874)
